How to report spam and scam calls

Reporting helps carriers and authorities block scam numbers. Rules and websites differ by country, so check each official site for current details.
Start with your phone and carrier
Use your phone app to report the number as spam. In the US and UK, you can forward a spam text to 7726 to report it to your carrier.
Examples by country
- United States: the Federal Trade Commission takes reports at reportfraud.ftc.gov, and donotcall.gov handles Do Not Call registrations.
- India: the Sanchar Saathi portal has a Chakshu option for reporting suspected fraud calls and messages, and 1930 is the national cybercrime helpline.
- United Kingdom: Action Fraud takes reports of scams and fraud.
If you lost money
Contact your bank immediately, then report to your local police or cybercrime authority. Keep the number, time and any messages as evidence.
